The Opolis is undergoing several changes over the fall of 2024. We will be incorporating new structures for a kitchen and hours. Starting in September we will be limiting our food menu and introducing wholesale vegan options to be enjoyed at home! The Opolis is now taking requests for studio recording and rehearsal space in the spirit of expanding the services it can offer the music community of Norman, Oklahoma.

An Interview with Em and the Mother Superiors
Em and the MotherSuperiors is an Oklahoma City based band that brings a classic mix of psychedelic, roots, and energy. This long tenured band is a love story of genre blending that ignites influence of soul to blues to grunge. Emily Alexander answers some questions about the bands start and what the experience of playing in a live band means to them. Carly Gwin is a Norman based songwriter that makes music reflecting the emotional experience of being human and is one part of a four piece band. Emma Goldman Sachs is a lofi garage rock two piece based out of Oklahoma by Nick Rauscher and Dalton Eckroat. Their music is reminiscent of cult surfer rock and nu-60s counter culture that screams anti-establishment. Nick answers some questions about their style and influence. Labrys, originally the solo project of Penny Pitchlynn, has turned into a full blown live music experience hailing from Oklahoma City. Penny’s tenure in the music scene spans across more than a decade and has grown from open mics to international venues. Penny provides insight behind the formation of Labrys and encouragement to younger artists working in the scene today. This blog features their “10:10” album that released February 2, 2024. Japan Punk Trio, TsuShiMaMiRe, performing at Opolis April 19th
They are celebrating their 25th anniversary with an international tour starting on April 18th. Opolis is the second stop on the tour and we are so excited to have them! Opolis Live Sessions
Opolis Sessions is a new music series hosted at the local vegan food restaraunt and micro venue in downtown Norman that will highlight artists from the Oklahoma City Metro and beyond through live audio and video recording. This series is sponsored by the Live Music Society Toolbox Grant.
T-Shirt Preorder & NMF Fundraising
The Opolis is fundraising in preparation for Norman Music Festival that happens in downtown Norman at the end of April. There is a tshirt preorder available for anyone wanting to support the bands playing our stage this year. This blog post highlights the importance of funding artists, the responsibility of local venues in the festival, and other ways individuals can support the local vegan food and live music venue that continues to be a driving force in the arts and music culture of Norman, Oklahoma.
Opolis Blog is Live
The Opolis in Norman, Oklahoma is the recepient of the Live Music Society Toolbox Grant for 2023. Our small music venue turned worker owned cooperative will be making updates to the stage, building updates to the exterior and interior. The team will also introduce a new video series that will be document spotlight artists with live video and audio in front of a live audience. More details can be found in this post.
